The IOSH Managing Safely is open to everyone and does not require any prior qualifications or prerequisites.
While the course is aimed at those in managerial and supervisory positions, experience in these fields is not necessarily required to take the course.

This means applicants do not require any knowledge of health and safety prior to taking the course.

3. Definition of the terms likelihood and consequence
4. Risk assessment process and the risk rating systems
5 The benefits of carrying out risk assessment

Controlling Risks 1. Definition of the term reasonably practicable
2. How to evaluate risk using a risk matrix and how to control those risks
3. How to reduce risk by applying the hierarchy of risk control
4. How implementing risk controls impact incident and consequences of incident
5. Definition of the term residual risk
6. Modules 2 and Module 3 include a practical activity to spot hazards, assess and control risk.

Understanding Responsibilities 1. An overview of what the law requires an organisation to do to protect H&S of workers and other people under its control

3. The three knowledge tests to help determine reasonably foreseeable risks: common, industry and expert knowledge

IOSH Managing Safely Course Guide

IOSH Managing Safely Syllabus Guide

You will be required to undertake a 45-minute multiple choice test, comprised of 30 questions. A score of at least 36 out of 60 is required to pass.

You will also need to conduct and submit a skill-based workplace risk assessment within two weeks of completing your course material.

You must pass both units to achieve your full IOSH Managing Safely.

After enrolling onto the IOSH Managing Safely course, learners will have access to comprehensive, engaging and thought-provoking course materials that will guide them on their training journey.

Learners will also have access to tutors support to cement their understanding and assist them as they near the end of the course. Examination fees are also included in the course price. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be sent their IOSH Certificate.

You should receive the results and, provided you have passed, your IOSH certificate up to 6 to 8 weeks after completing the IOSH Managing Safely course.
The IOSH Managing Safely course is a Level 2 course.
The IOSH Managing Safely course is assessed via a 45 minute multiple choice test that will draw on the knowledge gained from the course.

The test will consist of thirty questions with up to sixty marks available. Learners must also complete a skill-based workplace risk assessment within two weeks of completing the course materials. Both the test, and the risk assessment must be passed to achieve IOSH Managing Safely Certificate.
