Amazon: Delivering excellence straight to their door

Background

Founded in 1994, Amazon has steadily emerged into one of the biggest global e-commerce giants. Today Amazon stands as the most prominent online shopping platform globally, possessing the title of the most valuable retailer in the United States of America for market capitalisation, after surpassing Walmart in 2015. 

Requirements

Amazon identified an opportunity to develop the competency of their health and safety teams globally and support colleagues to develop their careers by gaining professional qualifications.

Amazon took time to source a partner that could provide health and safety training courses with the scale to support large volumes of learners worldwide via e-learning. Therefore, Astutis quickly emerged as the obvious choice. Amazon also required reputation. They wanted a training provider with NEBOSH Gold partner status, competitive pricing and experience. Therefore, Astutis quickly emerged as the obvious choice.

Challenges 

Amazon wanted their supervisory and managerial staff at local sites to be health and safety compliant whilst comprehensively trained on hazard and risk management. We recommended that the NEBOSH General Certificate be trained to provide a safe grounding of most health, safety and environmental concepts. The course helps introduce the Plan-Do-Check-Act model to learners establishing a progressive and pro-active mentality to health and safety in the workplace. 

We also recommended the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals to allow the managerial workforce a platform to set the standard in their workplace. The qualification enables learners to become trusted in all aspects of health and safety regarding risk management and how to respond if hazards occur. 

Results

Over 500 learners enrolled on NEBOSH qualifications. Astutis were always on hand to support Amazon with dedicated account management. Amazon made it clear that learner satisfaction was a high priority to ensure the long term success of the training. Therefore we continued to monitor and closely maintain relationships with learners to enhance the learning. We provided customised LMS reporting to better the experience and provide bespoke content and learner communications. As part of the training, we provided dedicated assessment preparation webinars to increase each learners chance of success.
