The NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award is assessed with a workplace health and safety review for Unit HSA1. This will include:

  • Considering how health and safety is managed, and how it could be done better
  • Identifying health and safety issues, how they are controlled and if the risk can be reduced
  • Selecting the most important issue for improvement

This assessment must be carried out at your own workplace, or at a suitable premises if this is not possible.

The aim of the assessment is for you to practically apply the knowledge and understanding that you have gained from studying the NEBOSH Heath and Safety at Work Award.


Online Learner Information

If you  are studying via online learning, you'll be required to download the assessment template from the course content page inside the course, fill it in and send it to Astutis. The assessment can be either completed by hand or typed.

NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award Exam Process

The NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award is assessed with a workplace health and safety review, undertaken at your place of work.

This assessment is designed to test your ability to put into practice all you have learned and, as it is carried out in the workplace, can add instant value to your organisation.

The pass mark is 45 out of 60. 

EXAM DAY

If you are studying the course either on-site or virtually through your company, then the assessment will be taken after the learning is completed. Astutis can inform you when the assessment will need to be submitted, and you are able to complete this at your workplace or other suitable premises, and submit according to deadline. A template is provided for you to complete your assessment.

There is no restriction on the time you can take, however it is expected you will need no more than 3 hours.

Online Learner Information

YOUR NEBOSH HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK AWARD ASSESSMENT RESULTS

Results are usually issued within 24 working days of completing your assessment, however this can be slightly earlier or later dependent on any moderation undertaken.

Upon successful completion a certificate is issued and sent in the post directly from NEBOSH, which includes an SQA Accreditation logo. This can take up to 6-8 weeks after receiving your results.
