Course
Dalia Raoof is a Senior Health and Safety Executive within the Electricity and Water industry in the United Arab Emirates. Recognising room for improvement within her organisation, Dalia decided to take the NEBOSH International Diploma to advance her knowledge and skills in Health and Safety…
Recognising a Need for Training
Dalia’s role involves her planning and implementing Occupational Health screenings, surveys and site tours, conducting Health and Safety inspections and surveillance audits and developing both internal and external Health and Safety awareness through training, campaigns and promotional events.
After identifying potential gaps within her HSE department, Dalia made the decision to complete her NEBOSH International Diploma with the goal of improving the management of health and safety throughout her organisation, whilst benefiting her career at the same time.
With a suite of Health and Safety qualifications under her belt, including Occupational Health and Safety Management System Training, Incident investigation for Health and Safety Training and a Certificate in Internal Auditing OHSAS 18001 to name a few, Dalia was no stranger to classroom training. This time, however, she was looking for something more flexible that she could fit around her increasing work schedule.
Flexible Learning - A Perfect Fit
After learning about the interactive level of Astutis’ courses, Dalia decided to take the plunge and sign up for her NEBOSH International Diploma online course. Having just sat her first exam for Unit A, Dalia sat down to discuss her learning experience so far:
“I had wanted to further my education and knowledge in Health and Safety for quite some time and finally made a decision to look for a programme that I could register into while still keeping my job. At first, I was hesitant about the idea of online learning, as I had never taken a course outside of a classroom setting before. However, after learning about the interactive level of the course, I decided to try it out and I was not disappointed.
The online course materials are very well put-together. Naturally being a higher-level qualification, there is quite a lot of information to cover, however everything from the progress checks to the external resources and practice videos makes it so easy to follow and being able to take it on the go with me helps me plan a study schedule that balances my work and study perfectly. I particularly love the Watch Listen Do videos and the resources available from the Health Safety Executive (HSE) UK.
The extra support available is also extremely helpful. My tutor is always on hand to answer my questions quickly, which is great considering the time difference, and the online revision sessions were useful in helping me prepare for my first exam.
The whole Astutis platform and available resources simplified my learning experience and fitted in with my schedule perfectly”
The Future
Since completing her first unit, Dalia has gained new confidence in her abilities within her role and begun preliminary discussions with colleagues regarding what they can do to improve Health and Safety throughout their organisation.
Once she has completed her studies, Dalia hopes to take her experience abroad and help organisations regulate Health and Safety in different countries. Her ultimate goal is to eventually become a Health and Safety consultant in her own firm and help organisations improve their Health and Safety practices and Management Systems.
