Introducing Our New NEBOSH General Certificate Online Course

Discover the NEW NEBOSH General Certificate 2019 course. Now available to study online with brand new features to help you learn and pass.

October 2019

We’ve come a long way since we first started creating online courses back in 2012. Our course development has doubled to include learning designers, multimedia developers, graphic designers, health and safety experts and project managers. And our online course portfolio has grown to include not just accredited health and safety courses, but custom-made online training programs for some of the biggest companies around the world.

We're really proud of how far we've come. But our NEBOSH General Certificate online course is still our pride and joy. So, when NEBOSH announced they were updating the NEBOSH National and International General Certificate syllabus, we knew it was time to give our courses a full-blown upgrade.

It’s no secret that health and safety has a bit of a reputation for being a dry subject. But we know that good health and safety is more than just a box ticking exercise. And that’s why it’s always been our mission to make learning fun, engaging and accessible to everyone.

We hope this new version of the course and the features we’re launching along with it can tempt you to look at health and safety training a little differently.

We've made it easier to find new and existing features

We’ve replaced the old navigation with a sleeker burger menu so you can jump between elements at the click of a button. But don’t worry, we’ve kept all of the resources and learning tools. We’ve just placed them into a new navigation bar for quick and easy access.

It’s also much easier to switch between elements. Just one tap and you can jump to your chosen topic. It's part of our effort to make studying less stressful and put you in control of your learning.

We’ve given you more exam support

What sets us apart from everyone else isn’t just our funky graphics. It’s our learning development team - the brains behind our operations.

They’ve designed a new learning framework to help you prepare for your exam. We call it ExamSmart™. It’s made up of 3 unique pillars that support your learning journey.

  • Pillar 1 – multiple-choice learning checks after each learning object. They use confidence-based-marking to test your short-term knowledge retention and make sure you’re confident in what you know.
  • Pillar 2 – element roundups at the end of each element. They test your ability to communicate what you know, rather than just recognising a correct answer when presented in front of you.
  • Pillar 3 – NEBOSH past exam questions and mock exams. These test your ability to apply what you know with complex questions on a specific topic.

We think it’s the best online learning since the internet. And It’s all part of our mission to develop confident health and safety professionals.

By testing your knowledge at each pillar, and learning from the feedback we give, you’ll be in great shape to sit your exam and implement what you’ve learnt in your workplace.

We’ve given you a customised timetable

“Sticking to it”. That’s what you’ve always said is the hardest part of taking an online course. But how do you make sure thousands of learners, all starting their course at a different time, are on track and aren’t falling behind?

Trust us, there was no easy solution. But it’s what you’ve always asked for, so we knew we had to make it work.

Countless product development meetings, UX testing and coffee breaks later and our team unveiled TrackSmart™. An innovative new tool just for NEBOSH General Certificate online learners. It’s available in two versions:

  • Exam date tracker: Set your start date and chosen exam date and get a timetable to help you complete the learning materials in time.
  • Time tracker: Set your start date and the number of hours you can study each week and get a timetable with an estimated exam date of when you’ll be ready.

You can check back regularly to track your progress and see how much time you have left. It’s all part of our effort to break down the barrier between classroom and online learning and make you feel as supported as possible.

We've made room for more developments

We’re not done yet. Our team have lots of new features in the development room including podcasts, apps and videos.

What’s more, we’ve got some great reporting going on behind the scenes. Our team are always monitoring the results of learning checks and element roundups to see where our learners are struggling. That way, we’ll be able to host a webinar to help you. Or even go back and develop some extra learning resources around a topic.

It’s all part of our commitment to make the best learning experience for everyone.

Building it with you, for you

Learner feedback has been important to us since day one. That’s why we have feedback forms at the end of every course. We’ve trained over 20,000 online learners and we’ve read all the feedback you've given us through customer support, course feedback forms and even social reviews.

We’ll always put you, the learner, into the centre of everything we do. So thank you to everyone. Clients. Learners. Staff. And everyone who has contributed to this project. We hope you love the finished course as much as we do.
