Is There Funding Available for NEBOSH Courses?

May 2025

Embarking on any training course can be expensive especially if you are paying for it yourself. NEBOSH is no different in that respect, but there is some financial help available for adult learners in the UK provided you meet their individual criterion.

Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Short Qualification Grant

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has funding available for the Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK). This grant is available for companies in construction that are registered with the CITB.

Your company can then apply for the grant. You claim through your CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO), supplying them with the relevant details of the person taking the qualification. When the NCC is completed, the provider will update the Construction Training Register and you should automatically receive the grant payment within 28 days.

ReAct Funding in Wales

ReAct is a funding scheme provided by the Welsh Government for anyone who's facing redundancy and lives in Wales.

For people resident in Wales who have been made redundant or under notice of redundancy in the last 3 months can claim up to £1500 of funding for training.

Under the ReAct scheme, you can also get support for:

  • The costs of travelling to and from training courses.
  • Overnight accommodation costs, where necessary.
  • Childcare costs whilst training.
  • The cost of equipment for individuals with a learning difficulty, disability, or a work-limiting health condition.

To apply for the ReAct vocational training grant, visit Careers Wales website.

Charity and Voluntary Sectors

NEBOSH and the Charities Safety Group assist small charities and voluntary sector organisations by working with course providers who offer scholarships for the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Visit the NEBOSH website for more information on this grant for charities.

Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS) for Armed Forces

The Ministry of Defence - MOD’s Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) provides financial support for the UK Armed Forces' members and ex-members. If you are a serving member or a service leaver of the UK Armed Forces, dependent on your length of service, you can claim up to 80% of any NEBOSH Certificate and Diploma level course fees. ELC can only be used with course providers that are an approved and registered partner of ELCAS. If you are a UK Armed Forces' member, find out more about funds available and the qualifications eligible for Enhanced Learning Credits.

Courses Available:

Personal Learning Account (PLA) Funding

If you are over 19 and living in Wales, you have access to this funding pot provided you are earning under £32,371 or your job is at risk. If you are wanting to study an environmental course there is no salary cap for you to qualify.

Courses Available:

Your course will take place through a college in Wales, either online, in-person or a combination of the two.

How to Finance NEBOSH Courses

If you are not eligible for any funding and you are self-financing your NEBOSH course, there are very few financing options available. The best option is to speak to the course providers to see if they offer payment plans.

For a full guide of all funding options available for any of our courses, we have a free funding guide detailing everything we offer.
