NEBOSH Qualifications Eligible for IOSH Membership
Under recent changes, holders of the following NEBOSH qualifications are now entitled to apply for Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH):
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate
- NEBOSH International Oil and Gas Certificate
The qualifications also meet the academic requirements for Technician membership (Tech IOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH www.iosh.co.uk) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM www.iirsm.org).
Founded in 1945, IOSH is the only chartered body for health and safety practitioners and the world's largest health and safety professional membership organisation. It was the first European safety body to be awarded non-governmental organisation (NGO) status by the International Labour Organisation.
IOSH grants chartered status to members who meet their highest standards and as a chartered body, they significantly influence the direction of health and safety policy in both the UK and internationally.
Steve Terry, Managing Director of Astutis said:
"As a member of IOSH, some of the benefits include access to international networks spanning various industries, online forums, as well as conferences, seminars and webinars. It is an invaluable arena for sharing industry knowledge and employers increasingly require IOSH membership when recruiting health and safety practitioners or making promotion or pay decisions. This new ruling is a welcome one meaning the gains will be extended to more professionals."
