Knowledge-based Assignments
The IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management is assessed with three knowledge-based assignments, one for each taught module. This is in the form of a written document for each of the three modules, and you will take each one as you complete the relevant module.
- Module 1: Fundamentals of Sustainability, Business and Governance
- Module 2: Environmental Principles, Policy and Legislation
- Module 3: Environmental Management, Assessment Tools and Skills
Assessment of Competence
You will then need to complete an Assessment of Competence based on work experience, and how the knowledge gained throughout the course can be applied practically within the workplace. This is taken after all other modules have been successfully completed. This is to qualify for Practitioner Membership of IEMA (PIEMA), and you will receive details on how to join.
You will receive a certificate from IEMA upon successful completion, this can take 6-10 weeks to arrive.
The IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management course has three modules, and there is a knowledge-based assignment for each taught module. The assignments will be explained in full detail by your tutor, or through your distance learning materials.
For classroom or virtual learners, you will be given 4 weeks from the end of your module to complete and submit your assignment.
For distance learners, you will be able to take each assignment as soon as you are ready, and can submit when complete.
Word Count
A word count is provided for each question on your assignment. Exceeding the word count will result in marks being deducted. The assessments are designed to allow learners to achieve the highest marks without reaching the word limit.
Please note: References do not form part of the word count.
Pass Mark & Marking
All assignments undergo a marking and moderation process, which can take up to 8 weeks. Once completed, a copy of your results and marker feedback is sent to you by email.
You must score at least 50% on each module assessment to pass, and need to pass all three successfully to be awarded your certificate. You will receive a certificate from IEMA upon successful completion, this is a hard copy certificate sent in the post, and can take 6-10 weeks to arrive.
