Success at Intersec Mirrors the Positive Safety, Security and Fire Protection Markets
January 2014 saw another successful Intersec the Middle East’s leading networking event for health and safety professionals.
Now in its 16th year, this international safety, security and fire protection trade fair, was the largest ever with 1,213 exhibitors from 54 countries. The popular three day event welcomed guests from all over the world with the top visiting countries being Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, Qatar and India. The Safety and Health section of Intersec saw a 25% increase in exhibitors with successful conferences including the launch of Techtextil Middle East Symposium and Safety Design in Buildings Conference run by Dubai Civil Defence.
Safety professionals visiting the Astutis stand this year commented on the growing demand by employers for the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety as a minimum requirement. Recognising how it facilitates companies to remain compliant and enhance their reputation, essential for good business and registrations for this, NEBOSH’s most popular course, are on the rise.The Middle East has the largest number of NEBOSH registrations in the world and the number is increasing, evidence of the region’s commitment to enhancing health and safety standards boosted by the high profile events planned.

Intersec benefited from business activity by authorities within the region plus governmental support from the UK among other European countries. Dr Vince Cable, UK Business Secretary to the United Arab Emirates attended Intersec to speak to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, about high value opportunities for UK business in the aerospace sector.
