Chris spent 12 years working within the UK Armed Forces, specialising in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, OHS Management and Air Control. He has extensive technical experience covering the inspection, maintenance and repair of equipment including surveillance tools, vehicles, generators and radars; the management, storage, transport and use of engineering COSHH materials and the monitoring of hazardous atmosphere levels. He also managed the operation of critical communication links between air, naval, and ground forces in high pressure environments and was responsible for formulating and implementing emergency plans for natural and wartime
disaster, which included coordinating emergency response teams and agencies.
Throughout his career, Chris carried out regular accident investigations and risk assessments within high risk environments, implementing control measures and advising senior management on problem areas within existing management systems and developing KPI’s and efficiency systems to improve health and safety performance.
Chris planned and implemented annual, monthly and daily training programmes for up to 250 Armed Forces employees, including manual handling techniques and methods and health and safety inductions, and held tool box talks as part of periodic inspection routines. He also planned and implemented Return to Work Strategy’s for mentally and physically injured employees and frequently chaired safety committee meetings to review adherence to health and safety policy and legislation.
With an in-depth understanding of the complexities involved working within culturally diverse organisations and regions, Christopher was heavily involved in the management of multimillion dollar design and construction projects, overseeing site inspections, risk assessments, control systems and adherence with OHS legislation. He was responsible for the safety of over 1000 multi-national employees as well as improving HSSE policy and performance.
Since leaving the UK Armed Forces, Chris has worked with many of large organisations including; L’Oréal, Sony, Hilti, Siemens, UAE Military, Chelsea Football Club, Heathrow Airport, Mars, GlaxoSmithKline, Marks and Spencer and British Airways.
Skills and Experience
Chris’ role as a consultant sees him mostly delivering health and safety training courses such as IOSH Managing Safely and NEBOSH General Certificate, as well as more bespoke courses such as Behavioural Safety, Accident Investigation and Risk Awareness.
He has worked with clients in a range of industries include Airport, Rail, Hotel, Food and Beverage, Sport and Technology to name a fewAs well as training, Chris delivers consultancy work to clients, carrying out reviews of health and safety management systems.
