Wilmington plc Raises Over £500 for Movember Fundraiser

December 2024

Astutis is very happy to announce that during the month of November - as a part of Wilmington plc - the team raised £535 in support of the Movember campaign. The funds will contribute to Movember’s mission to improve men’s health and tackle critical issues such as suicide prevention, prostate cancer, mental health and testicular cancer.

Movember, known worldwide for its distinctive moustache-growing challenge, encourages participants to spark conversations about men’s mental health while raising vital funds for life-changing projects. The campaign was embraced by our team, as it’s a cause that sits very close to our hearts. At Astutis, we chose to participate because these issues are deeply tied to our mission of protecting lives, and ensuring that everyone feels safe and supported.

From growing impressive moustaches to taking part in walking challenges, the entire team went above and beyond. The moustache-growers embraced their roles as ambassadors for the cause, using their new facial hair to start conversations and raise awareness for men’s mental health issues.

Walking challenges also played a significant role in the fundraising efforts, with team members walking or running 60 kilometres over the month to represent the 60 men lost to suicide every hour worldwide.

Scott Lane, Astutis Training Solutions Advisor, had this to say about his reasons for participating:

“I know I'm not the only one that has had their personal battles. The past few years I have struggled massively with my own mental health, and I did not know if I could ever get back to being my old self, but I realised it is not about getting back to your own self, it's about dealing and accepting who you are and finding the ways to manage it the best way you can. This has affected people close to me my entire life and hopefully by bringing more awareness and raising funds for support, we can make a difference.”

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, whether by donating, growing a moustache, or cheering on participants. We remain committed to making a difference in our wider communities and we’re so proud of our teams who embody the ethos of giving back that is central to Astutis’ values.

  • "The two weeks of comprehensive in-class training, coupled with the gaps between the exams, provided ample time for preparation and reflection on what I learned in the classroom. NG2 was very interesting, and the classroom exercises helped me grasp the theme of assessment, specifically how (RMs) were assessed."

  • "The online learning portal was easy and straight forward to use, it was well laid out and had fantastic online resource sections which were great for printing out to have to hand - especially handy for highlighting important points. I had purchased the NEBOSH Managing Health and Safety book to help with my study, but in all honesty, the information in the portal covered all the relevant material anyway. I only needed to phone for assistance on a couple of occasions, but found the guidance helpful and quick."

  • "Having a secondary role at work as a Health and Safety coordinator means passing the NEBOSH General Certificate is a great indication of the knowledge and understanding I have achieved so far. This is a staple qualification in this field and I now have the confidence to venture into Health and Safety in a more primary role and as a progression of career."
