Andy Evans NEBOSH National Diploma

“I just wanted to say a thank you to Astutis for the “embracing” training I received for NEBOSH Diploma back in 2011.

Reason – I am on the verge of retirement now and I just wanted to give you a perspective on how the NEBOSH Diploma qualification Astutis helped me get affected my career from 2011 onwards. Brenig Moore, the Technical Director at Astutis personally introduced my diploma course and ran a fair few of the sessions. At the time I worked for DS Smith Logistics (Transport), and as part of the evolution of the job role, at the age of 55 I was required to complete a degree level diploma (I had survived in safety for many years on my experience as a safety rep from 1977, and part time branch safety officer for SOGAT). I was so nervous about returning to education after nearly 40 years away. I did my NEBOSH General Certificate in 2005 with CHSS with DS Smith and then moved to logistics.

Highlights – 2007 Motor Transport Awards nomination for “Safety in Operation” 2012 Winner for “Safety in Operation”. I worked alongside other Health and Safety professionals at DS Smith to develop training packages and an innovative behavioural safety programme. I was in semi-retirement 3 years ago and felt the need for a new challenge hence moved to the Keedwell Group in my current role on a 2-3 year full time project to take their safety to another level.

2020 Nominated for “Safety in Operation” again at the MTA for the innovative solution we put in place with a major brick manufacturer to eliminate working at height where previously drivers had to climb onto loads to place “spacers” in the top layer - in pure safety terms a potentially lifesaving initiative.

During my time in DS Smith I have nurtured and grown other team members through the NEBOSH qualification route, many through the NEBOSH General Certificate who themselves have gone onto complete a NEBOSH Diploma.

I am certain that the inspirational training I received from Astutis has made a huge difference in how I want to thank Astutis and I wish your business all of the best for the future.
