Astutis Launches Landmark "Voice of Our Learners Report" for 2025
We are Astutis, a leading health, safety and environmental training provider and we are proud to announce and share the findings of our 2025 Voice of Our Learners Report. The new report, based on a survey of 920 HSE professionals, reveals a slow uptake of emerging technologies in the sector alongside persistent human-factor hurdles. This comprehensive annual survey amplifies the voices of our learners that have gone on to become foremost experts in their respective fields. It highlights both the tech gaps and cultural challenges shaping the future of workplace safety.
The 2025 findings highlight a striking reality: while innovative tools like AI and wearable technology are making headlines, adoption remains low, with longstanding cultural hurdles such as employee attitudes and mental health taking centre stage. By combining clear data with frontline perspectives, the report empowers HSE leaders to track progress, identify gaps and build safer, healthier working environments. As the industry continues to transform, this survey has become an essential touchpoint for professionals committed to staying informed and ahead of the curve.
What Is the Astutis Voice of Our Learners Report?
Every year, the Astutis Voice of Our Learners Report offers a crucial window into the priorities, challenges and aspirations of health, safety and environmental professionals across the globe. Drawing on insights from nearly a thousand respondents, this annual survey is a foundational benchmark for organisations navigating the evolving landscape of workplace safety.
Key Findings From Astutis’ 2025 Voice of Our Learners Report
- Only 28% of HSE professionals are currently using AI tools in their health and safety work, indicating that the much-hyped technology has yet to gain broad traction in the field.
- Over 80% of individuals do not utilise wearable technology (such as smart PPE or monitoring devices) for safety management, highlighting a significant opportunity for growth in this area as technology advances.
- 52% of respondents say employee attitudes are the biggest obstacle to HSE success – underscoring how resistant or complacent workplace cultures can hinder safety improvements.
- 30% report that supporting mental health and well-being training is a significant challenge, reflecting the rising importance of holistic well-being in occupational safety and the difficulties many organisations face in addressing it.
These findings suggest that while cutting-edge tools such as artificial intelligence and wearables are on the horizon, the HSE sector has yet to adopt them fully. With four in five professionals not using wearable safety technology, this remains a space to watch for future growth as awareness and affordability improve.
Meanwhile, the fact that over half of respondents point to employee attitude as their top hurdle reinforces an age-old truth: building a positive safety culture is just as critical as any new gadget or system. Similarly, nearly one-third highlighting mental health and well-being training as a challenge shows that health and safety is increasingly about caring for the "whole worker". Companies are still figuring out how best to support mental wellness on the job.
Commenting on the survey results, Steve Terry, Managing Director of Astutis said:
"This year's report confirms that our industry is at a pivotal moment. On one hand, we see exciting new tools like AI and wearable tech emerging – but they're not yet taking hold in most organisations. On the other hand, long-standing challenges, such as gaining employee buy-in and addressing mental well-being, remain at the forefront. The opportunity for HSE leaders now is to blend innovative solutions with a people-centric approach so we can create safer, healthier, more sustainable workplaces for the future."
