Changes To RIDDOR Reporting From April 6th 2012

As from April 6th 2012, changes in the Reporting of Injuries Diseases and Dangerous Occurances Regulations (RIDDOR) come into force.

The changes to the Regulations alter the reporting requirement of over three day injuries. From April 6th 2012 employers and others with responsibilities under RIDDOR will be required to report an occupational injury resulting from an accident if the injury incapacitates the worker for more than 7 days. The deadline to report over seven day injuries is now fifteen days.

Occupational injuries that result in more than three days of incapacitation no longer need to be reported but a record must still be kept of these injuries. If the employers keeps an accident book then this record will be sufficient.
