Astutis Team Fundraise for Air Ambulance

May 2014

On Saturday 21st June, 5 members of the Astutis team will be taking up the WAAT4 Challenge in the Brecon Beacons.

WAAT4 is a prestigious navigation event in Wales’ beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. Teams from all over the UK take part every year.

In 2013 more than 500 competitors took part over either 30km or 40km Challenges which included South Wales’ highest peak - Pen y fan. Adam Cooper, Account Manager at Astutis was one of last year's entrants and as a seasoned member of the Army Reserves, has managed to convince 4 unsuspecting colleagues of his navigational abilities on the mountains of Wales!

He said:

"This is a good physical event in which the teams navigate a circular route from the start point in Brecon, over the highest point in the Brecon Beacons National Park and via a series of check points.  I am hoping the weather will be better than last year which saw rain and 50 mph+ crosswinds(!!), that we can maintain a good steady pace and complete the course in around 5 ½ hours. The one thing I can guarantee, every member of the team will sleep well afterwards."

The event takes place anually on the third Saturday in June and has raised over £130,000 for many good causes and charities such as Brecon Mountain Rescue, Wales Air Ambulance, Teenage Cancer Trust, PC Rathbones Blue Light Fund and Help for Heroes.

The 2014 team appropriately named 'Walking Safely' comprises (pictured L-R) Ben Moffat and Joseph Large of the International team, Account Manager Adam Cooper and Colin Wood and Peter Wright of the Multimedia team who will be taking part in the 30km route and raising money for the Wales Air Ambulance Charitable Trust.

Wales Air Ambulance provides an emergency air ambulance service to Wales with the ability to be anywhere in the country in 20 minutes. The charity responds to around 2000 missions a year- each mission costs approx £1500. WAA has to raise £6million per year in order to operate the lifesaving service.

Many of us here at Astutis know people who have been helped by the Wales Air Ambulance and are proud to be supporting this amazing service which is funded entriely by donations.

If you would like to support team Astutis and donate (any amount no matter how small will be greatly appreciated), you can do so here:

Good luck all! We trust in Adam's navigational abilities to bring you back safely!
