Astutis Sets Out to Raise £10k for Cardiff 10k

August 2016

The Cardiff 10k has become an iconic event here in Wales, attracting 5,000 runners – both experienced athletes and new runners. Organised solely by Kidney Wales, the race aims to raise money to support those tackling kidney disease, investing in patient care and well-being throughout Wales. Of the race, Roy Thomas, Chief Executive of Kidney Wales commented:

“The Cardiff 10K is the biggest event in our calendar and a major fundraiser for us here at Kidney Wales. Over the years the monies raised from the event has enabled us to do incredible things for the people struggling with kidney disease that we help to look after, including refurbishing the Children’s Kidney Centre at University Hospital of Wales and purchasing a state-of-the-art dialysis machine for the University Hospital of Wales”

This will be Astutis’ 5th year of taking part in the much loved event and to mark the occasion, Astutis is setting out to raise £2000, taking our total raised to over £10,000!

To kick off the campaign, Finance Officer and dedicated volunteer Rhoswen Patterson (standing out in the Astutis green top) joined other supporters and Welsh television presenter Angharad Mair at the official launch at Cardiff running store Run & Become on Friday 9th June. Rhoswen is no stranger to the race, having participated every year and spending most of her weekends walking some of South Wales’ most loved hiking tracks in preparation.

“I always love participating in the Cardiff 10k with my friends and colleagues, everyone puts such a great effort into training and fundraising and it creates a lovely atmosphere in the office. Kidney Wales does fantastic work and Astutis is very proud to have donated nearly £8,500 to them over the years – we’ve already started raising money for this year and I just know we’re going to beat our targets again, £10k for the 10k!”
