On 01 March 2021, NEBOSH announced the launch of a new Fire Safety qualification syllabus. The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety will replace both the current UK and International NEBOSH Certificates in Fire Safety and Risk Management. It can be studied from 1 May 2021. Further Qualification Recognition
This qualification meets academic requirements for technical membership of IOSH (TechIOSH) and Associate membership of the international Institute of Risk and Safety Management (AIIRSM). It allows you to apply for Technician and/or Associate Membership of the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO). Persons with the relevant skills and experience may also apply to join the IFPO Fire Risk Assessors Register.
What will I learn on the course?
The NEBOSH Fire Certificate is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately. Delegates must have successfully completed the NGC1/NG1 exam within the last 5 years to be eligible for this course.
- FC1 Fire Safety and Risk Management
- FC2 Practical Fire Risk Assessment
This is a popular qualification providing delegates with the knowledge and skills to carry out fire risk assessments and embed good practice.
It covers the legal requirements under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO), a range of fire protective and preventative measures and how to undertake fire risk assessments in most, low risk workplaces.
How is the NEBOSH Fire Certificate Assessed?
There is 1 half day exam for the FC1.
FC2 is assessed with a 2-hour practical fire risk assessment carried out in the workplace.
